CHAPTER 3: Savior of Worlds
Only few hours had gone by yet I was already worn out from repairing my ship. I lay on the couch in the forward lounge, just staring at the strange planet I'd found myself in orbit around. An empty doughnut box was on my lap, the very last of the pastries were dissolving in my stomach. They were good, but not even the Liddell family's famous baking could cheer me up. I've seen this dream many times. Actually... dream isn't a fitting term, "nightmare" would be more suitable. I've seen it so many times that I've lost count. Dozens? Hundreds? ...what does it matter, it was always the same damn nightmare anyway. I usually woke up the same way too, with my bed soaked with either sweat, tears or a lovely combination of both...
The dream began with darkness, a cursed void as deep as the night sky. Route 43 was nearly deserted that night, an occasional light or shape would pass by in the blackness.
I could hear whispering in the front seat. I didn't catch much of it, something like "Are you sure this is the
